ACCOMMODATIONS Shinonomesou

Public stone bath in main building and private baths in second building. Beautiful wooden furniture. Crab served year round.

Facilities

The outer facade is constructed in the beautiful and traditional Japanese fashion, a lattice of natural wood and white walls, which compliments the ambience of the town. The wooden interior warmly welcomes our guests as they enter. From the wooden lounge and cozy interior rock garden one's gaze wonders out upon the impressive view of tiled roofs and eaves, wooden rails and Japanese paper windows. Part of the glass floored corridor travels over a small pond with colorful carp swimming. Let your mind wander as you watch the carp carelessly swim about. We like to take pride in our crab cuisine that is served year round. All of our seafood is caught fresh in the local harbor, among the catch is red snow crab and snow crab. We use only naturally (organic) grown produce, locally grown. This allows us to create naturally delicious tasting cuisines for our guests.

  • Our large public bath is made from boulders found from all over Japan. Relax in the gentle warm waters and rustic style.

  • Free designer yukata(cotton kimono) rentals. Women can choose from several colorful variations to wear around town to visit the outdoor public hot springs.

  • The small pond arranged with stones gives the feel of an indoor garden. Part of the corridors floor being glass sticks over the pond, letting you watch the colorful carp swim bellow.

  • Private bath with jacuzzi. The bath is accented with a beautiful tiled mural. The bath can be reserved for free for up to 40min, ask at the second building.

Google reviews of Shinonomesou

My family and I have just returned from a magical three-night stay at Ryokan Sinonomesou in Kinosaki-Onsen, and we are already dreaming of our return. This is not just a place to stay; it is an experience of genuine, top-tier Japanese hospitality that left us deeply touched.

From the moment we arrived, the service was nothing short of outstanding. While the staff speak limited English, their dedication to communication and guest comfort is limitless. Through kindness, patience, and effort, they ensured we felt completely welcome and cared for at every turn.

The meals were an absolute highlight—each dinner and breakfast was a scrumptious and beautifully presented feast. We looked forward to every dining experience, which featured fresh, local ingredients and delicious seasonal flavours. We had massive crabs and Tajima beef for dinners!

Traveling with young, sometimes loud children can be stressful, but the team at Sinonomesou were incredibly accommodating and put us completely at ease. They treated our children with warmth and made our whole family feel at home.

We were especially moved when the kind owner presented our son with a generous birthday gift during our stay. This personal, thoughtful gesture went far beyond any standard service and showed us the true heart of this ryokan.

We are so grateful for the memories created at Sinonomesou. It is a special place that perfectly captures the spirit of Kinosaki-Onsen. We will definitely be making the trip back, and I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone seeking an authentic, heartfelt, and luxurious ryokan experience.

The place is really nice. I thought the facilities were pretty decent. It’s an older place so just keep that in mind. There were some other reviews that gave 1 star because they opened the back of their toilet and found some mold, I mean, I guess sure….if you’re being super thorough, you can find things like that but this isn’t a 5 star hotel. I do agree however with the moldy walls in the wash area by the indoor onsen. But the temperature was really warm and with the constant water, I can understand how it happens. I don’t think it’s at a critical level, there were some splotches here and there, they probably can clean it a little more frequently. The hotel however has some amazing visuals and the food is superb. I think that part is unbeatable. It’s also very children friendly. A worker will go into your room to set up beds while you eat so just be aware of that. Also if you bring your own alcohol, you have to pay a fee. I was surprised with that at check out. They also serve beer and alcohol so I guess that was fair. One of the older female managers is very nice, the other one’s a little more stern. She wasn’t rude but just wasn’t on the par of other service members in the country. I gave them a four star rating because I thought the other staff members were very polite and nice. These included the servers, the person who poured us tea when we arrived, and the cleaning staff. They were all very friendly and checked with us multiple times about food times and check out times. You’re also given a pass that will allow access to any of the seven public bath houses in the area. I didn’t go to all of them so don’t quote me on that.
