Lovely ryokan where staff is equipped with English so it's very foreigner friendly! They have 2 private onsen for use in the evening. The meals provided are filling, delicious, and traditional! You are provided with a yukata to walk around town with, women get an additional one as well that is very pretty. There's a video to show you how to put it on, but the staff can also help if you need it. It was colder when we went so you also get haori to wear over the yukata. Men who wear size 12+ shoes may struggle with some of the outdoor provided slippers. There are very few larger sizes.

The owner is very kind and loves to take photos. If you're a bit shy, you may get overwhelmed.

Only complaint is our room was next to the smoking room indoors, so the genkan area was very smelly.

A quaint and charming inn, with all the classic amenities you expect. Ther service is welcoming and kind, the food delicious, and the location at the heart of Kinosaki Onsen is perfect for hopping around to all of the beautoful Onsen or taking the Ropeway to the top of the mountain. A wonderful component to an amazing Japan experience.

My husband and I stayed at this Ryokan during our trip to Kinosaki. It was amazing! The Inn is owned and operated by a lovely man that was so helpful and kind our whole stay. We got in before check in time and he held our bags for us, gave us a map, and tons or recommendations. When we got back for check in our bags were already in our room and we got our complimentary yukata to use during our stay. The inn has its own smaller onsens that are private in the evening and are split by women and men in the morning. You have access to all the public onsens with your stay and they are all in walking distance of Morizuya Inn. In the morning we had the breakfast which was so beautifully presented and delicious. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone coming to Kinosaki!

I can’t praise this ryokan enough. The room was clean, comfortable and the kaiseki was delicious. Central location. From the moment we set foot inside the ryokan until we left Kinosaki, Hatchi, the owner of this beautiful establishment was so welcoming, warm and kind and so was his staff. They went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. The best part was Hatchi and his staff didn’t just do it for us as his guest staying at his home but for anyone coming to visit Kinosaki. They truly go above and beyond. This place was a gem. I cant say enough about this place. It holds a very special place in my heart. Such a magical place.

The staff is excellent — friendly, professional, and always giving their best. They’re incredibly attentive and make sure you have everything you need at all times. The food was outstanding and very generous, and the room was spacious with beautiful yukatas you could use during your stay. I definitely recommend staying at this inn!

We had an amazing stay in Morizuya for two nights and would highly recommend. The location is ideal, minutes walk to each onsen. The service and hospitality were exceptional throughout our stay.
Breakfast and dinner were a highlight of our trip to Japan, beautifully presented and delicious, a chance to try various authentic Japanese dishes.
Two private onsens within the hotel are free to access and are both excellent.

If your travel goal is authenticity in human experience and authenticity in Japanese culture, the Morizuya Inn is a charming, family run experience with delicious kaiseki, cozy tatami&futon ryokan rooms that left me and my friends feeling like we had been blessed. From the greeting by Hachi: "Welcome to my Home", to the loving treatment of Obaasan, to the topshelf service at tableside, to the guidance of which onsen best suited our needs, we felt like we had wrap around care. Book ahead to ensure your dates in Japan coincide with your ryokan village experience

I had a great stay at Morizuya few weeks back. The owner is great, he speaks food English, is very friendly and helpful.
My room was huge and beautiful. Loved the Onsen at the inn. The cave onsen is gorgeous.
I also got to experience Matcha tasting there which was a wonderful surprise. I didnt even know it was included.
Only had a breakfast and it was delicious.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would recommend this inn to anyone visiting Kinosaki Onsen.

Morizuya and the town of Kinosaki-Onsen is one of those experiences that is life altering. Separate reviews for both.

Morizuya is definitely a deeply traditional Ryokan, but it goes so far above and beyond with making you feel welcomed into a traditional family home and being granted a temporary place in the family yourself. There is something magical about this town, and Morizuya itself. From what we could gather, Hachi is the man of the household and also the manager of the Ryokan. From the very beginning, he and his family were so welcoming with the entire check in and luggage process. The house is built into the hillside and naturally has a lot of steps and turns inside the building, so their assistance was much appreciated.

We met Hachi, his daughter, his mother, and other staff that I would assume to be family throughout the stay. I believe it is mostly run by multiple generations of the same family, which is so beautiful to see when we are so used to seeing commercialized properties around the country and around the world.

After check in, we were taken to a special area to pick out our own Yukata which are included for no additional fee. You will need these when walking in town, as the beauty of Kinosaki-Onsen is that they have a philosophy of the whole town being one large interconnected onsen, the streets are merely hallways between them, and the yukata is 100% acceptable to be worn anywhere at all times within this town. So pick out a beautiful combination of sash, yukata, and geta’s as this will now be your primary attire for your stay. Of course, each day they offer you the ability to change yukata for a fresh one and for us they left new ones in the room without us even having to ask.

After choosing our yukata, we proceeded to the room where we were given a personalized tour. Each room will be unique, and ours had a large tatami floor for sleeping and sitting, a TV, a strong AC with remote, a beautiful separate bathroom and toilet area, and the view was astonishing. Private views to the hillside where we could see wildlife, flora, and fauna. The room was equipped with a hot water boiler for tea, as well as a tea set and a stocked mini bar. You absolutely cannot ask for a more authentic Japanese room or one that would be more well appointed or beautiful. It was the perfect room.

After changing into our yukatas, we were invited to a traditional tea ceremony that was performed by Hachi’s mother, and we learned so much about how to property participate as well as identify the correct placement of the tea cups. It is such a formal process that has so much detail, we felt honored to be allowed to participate and learn this aspect of the culture. The tea was hand mixed in front of us by Hachi’s mother, and was super delicious! We also met another guest at the ceremony who was a Japanese national and we enjoyed our tea while exchanging stories. It was a moment that felt as though we too were Japanese.

Upon our way out we noticed a beautiful hallway with some items on display for viewing as well as a reading nook stocked with books and mangas if you so desire to sit and read.

The biggest gem of the property are the baths, of which there is 1 male and 1 female bath. Inside the baths, there is a full vanity, multiple Japanese traditional showers, and a private onsen in each! The baths are gender separated in the morning, and available for private use FOR FREE during the evenings. The private onsens in both are amazing, and the male side has an outdoor portion. The property also provides onsen bags, towels, and your onsen town pass!

Morizuya, Hachi, and his family made our trip beyond unforgettable. This is my 22nd trip to Japan and I have to honestly say this ryokan and this town are my new favorite. This is the Japanese countryside at the absolute purest, and you’ll never regret coming here or staying at Morizuya. I hope to see them again very soon!

I had the most delightful stay at Morizuya Inn, which I booked through Booking.com with the half-board option. This charming family-run inn offers a truly warm and genuine welcome. I was able to leave my luggage before check-in, which gave me time to explore the beautiful town of Kinosaki Onsen.

On my return, I discovered that female guests can rent a kimono free of charge—a wonderful experience. The owner kindly takes photos outside the inn with great enthusiasm, adding a personal touch to the stay.

The kaiseki meals were absolutely exquisite, showcasing an excellent variety of seasonal dishes and beautifully presented. Every course was a highlight.

I wouldn’t hesitate to return and highly recommend Morizuya Inn for anyone seeking authentic hospitality, traditional charm, and exceptional food.

The stay here is not just about accommodation. It's a complete experience of Japanese tradition, from learning to wear Yukata and participating in the tea ceremony. We even received a free photoshoot from the manager :D

Highlights
- Our luggage was delivered to the tourist center upon check-out, which gave us much more time to explore the area.
- There are 2 private Onsen baths you can use as you wish.
- The premium dinner and breakfast set is so amazingly good, and great portion!

We had a wonderful stay in November 2024 in one of the suites. Loved being able to open the windows and watch the streets below. The evening kaiseki meal was delicious and the proprietor goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable!

We had a fantastic time during the two nights that we stayed at this Ryokan. Hachi-san and his family are lovely people and went absolutely above and beyond to make our stay not only memorable but in fact unforgettable. When comparing the food to the other Ryokans and Minshukus we stayed at we felt that here it was the highest quality and also everything was explained to us clearly and proactively, how to enjoy all the different dishes. Hachi-san took many great photos of us and even gave us a lift to the train station when we checked out. Luggage forwarding worked great aswell.

Our stay was absolutely amazing. The host and his family are incredibly attentive to there guests. Our host took many photos for us around the property and town. I can't recommend this place enough, it is the number 1 place to stay in Kinosakionsen.

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was absolutely amazing. A must do if youre in Japan. With the booking you get a tea ceremony and you get to rent a kimono.
Also you will get a pass to go to the different onsens. In the hotel itself there is also a beautiful onsen.

The manager is so kind and took so many pictures for us. The staff is so welcoming and carried our HEAVY luggage up to our room. The room itself is traditional japanese and really relaxing and beautiful. I just left and would already love to return. The area itself is absolutely gorgeous and relaxing. Morizuya Inn is definitely the best one you can book in the area. Again the staff made everything so relaxing and made us feel welcome!

Morizuya Inn is an immersive experience and a truly worth while visit while in Japan.

My wife and I stayed at the Morizuya Inn during our ~2 week vacation to Japan and had the best time here/in Kinosaki Onsen in general! From the moment you arrive, the owner (Hachi-san) makes you feel welcome. There are some many good/fun things about Morizuya that I cant list them all, but here are a few highlights:

- The kaiseki dinner was amazing, with each dish meticulously prepared and presented like edible art.
- All the staff were attentive and kind to us, giving us an immersive experience.
- The rooms are beautifully decorated with traditional elements, and sleeping on tatami mats for the first time was surprisingly comfortable and authentic.
- Exploring Kinosaki Onsen's seven public bathhouses in the provided yukata robes!

For travelers seeking an authentic ryokan experience beyond Tokyo's bustle, Morizuya Inn offers the perfect blend of tradition, comfort, and memorable hospitality.

Stayed at Morizuya Inn for 1 night in the middle of March ‘25. It was absolutely wonderful and great value. From even before check-in, when we dropped off our luggage, we were made to feel super welcome.

The manager, Hachisuka went through great lengths to ensure everything went smoothly. In addition to delivering everything one would expect for a stay, Hachisuka provided my wife and I a free photo shoot in our Kimono/Yukata & personally delivered our luggage to the station so that we could enjoy a few more moments in town luggage-free b4 leaving.

The dinner and breakfast was tasty and well assembled. Free tea ceremony was fantastic. The location was in close proximity to everything. The baths were made private after a certain time, all you had to do was walk-in!

I recommended emailing Hachisuka to enquire about a reservation.

What a special place to stay! We had three nights at Morizuya and loved every minute. Hachisuka and the rest of the staff are so sweet and thoughtful. The breakfasts and dinners are massive, varied affairs with as many as a dozen different small dishes. The location is perfect for onsen-hopping, and the small private onsens in the hotel are great for when you want to have a dip with your family. We will definitely be back in the future.

Very nicely located just a short walk from Kinosakionsen Station and in the middle of town. The host, Hachi-san, is very eager and will take lots of pictures for you to commemorate your trip.

In addition to a pass for all the public onsen in town being included, Morizuya has two private paths that are available on a first come first served basis. One has both indoor and open air.

Morizuya is a great value for the money, but the food and rooms are not quite up to 5 star territory. I would stay here again if not looking for a luxury place and it fit my budget.

Incredible experience - we loved every moment of our time here. It was our first ryokan & onsen experience, and everything exceeded expectations. The hosts were attentive & helpful, the Japanese tatami room was spacious and comfortable, and it is in the premium location in the town centre. We chose to include dinner & breakfast, and both were phenomenal. Yukata and kimono were provided, and they took great photos for us. The private onsens inside the ryokan were lovely, and a great introduction before we went to the public onsens in town. Highly recommend. Thank you!!!!

Morizuya Inn has amazing value! We are from Seattle and stayed here during our Kinosaki Onsen trip. The hotel manager is very kind and offered to take pictures everywhere in nearby. The whole experience included breakfast and dinner, which were absolutely stunning. We were able to experience every little part of Japanese food in small portions. Upon check in, there is also a green tea ceremony which is very interesting to us. The included hot spring pass lets us to go any public hot springs for unlimited time. We love the one nearby (2-minute walk) that has half outdoor space. The hot springs here are really really hot (over 120 degree F) though so it definitely takes time to get used to. The room is in a classic style which is the reason we picked Morizuya over other modern style hotels in the competition.

Overall we really recommend Morizuya Inn if you plan to travel to Kinosaki Onsen town.

It was a particularly snowy and rainy day, and we arrived a few hours before our check in time. The inn staff were kind enough to not only hold our luggage, but provide warm boots and umbrellas for us to use while we explored.

Once our room was ready, we were offered a small welcoming tea ceremony. After that, we got free reign on the two private baths that the inn maintained, as well as passes to the baths in the town (Goshonoyu highly recommended).

It was easy to get around town, especially with the boots. The inn facilities were well maintained and private baths super comfortable.

We didn’t opt for the dinner service, but enjoyed the breakfast the following morning. The owner, Hachi-san, was a lifesaver as he drove us to the station in the morning, through the snow and rain.

Great traditional Japanese experience. Staff helped get us setup with our Yukata’s, took a few pictures then we had our tea ceremony. Hotel is very centrally located which provides easy access to all Onsens and shops. We opted in for the dinner and breakfast which were both very large traditional meals. If you are not a seafood lover there is not much for you to eat in these dishes. If you like seafood then you will have the time of your life navigating the meals.
